So, You Went And Wrote A Song...Now What?

How many songs does one need to have written before one can deem oneself a songwriter, anyway?
Answer: One.
Of course, odds are if you've only written one song it probably needs a bit of tweaking. The songwriting veterans will probably take issue with that whole premise anyway. We'll get to you songwriting veterans in a minute. If you're a pro or even a semi professional songwriter - you already know what you're here for. Let me take a moment to address the newbies (we used to say neophytes, but that was before modems came along).

Sooner or later, someone will happen across these pages who has a guitar stuffed in a closet with a 5 rusty strings and perhaps one string missing, maybe even an entire set of drums in storage somewhere (Ludwig, cause that's what Ringo played). Perhaps you have a drawer full of old poems that you were going to put to music one day and haven't thought about it in a long time. You got married, you had kids, you got a "real" job and it became your career. Well, guess what? This website is for you as well. Remember when you first heard Elvis, or maybe for you, it was the Beatles and you HAD to buy a guitar, and you HAD to start a band and and then you hit your late twenties and HAD to give it up for something more secure?

I want you to get in touch with that wild eyed kid that used to be you and pull out that dusty guitar and put a new set of strings on it. I want you to dig through that drawer right now and find those poems and above all, I want you to bookmark this site, because I don't want you to spend all your time in front of the computer, and there's a lot of ground to cover. As for you guys that have been at it for a while, remember - it's what you learn after you know it all that counts. I will always provide you with a plethora of information to grasp, grok or ponder and a useful selection of tools of the trade you can purchase right here.
